Olomouc is the fifth largest city by population in Czechia, about a tenth of Prague. However it is said to be an underrated gem. I decided to visit it because of that, and because it was in a different region, Moravia.
Saturday is usually market day in European cities, and Olomouc was no different. From my very comfortable hotel in the middle of the old city, I sauntered through the main city square on the way to the market on the outskirts.
This is the Holy Trinity Column built about 300 years ago.
The Moravian Theater which is also the home of the Moravian Philharmonic.
The Arion Fountain.
The restaurant next to the theatre.
Looking back at the square.
Neptune at his fountain, with his back to us.
A raven taking advantage of Neptune as a vantage point.
The day was just beginning to warm up.
Marian Column.
Looking back at where I came from.
Jupiter has his fountain too, so that he isn't jealous of Neptune.
At this point I was minutes from the farmer's market so this will continue in the next post.
