In the afternoon, I decided to have a late lunch at an Indian restaurant. It was decent enough, had genuine basmati rice, and a welcome change from central European fare.
To the south of the old city is Galerie Šantovka, a modern shopping mall. It is separated from the city by a busy two lane highway, however there is an overhead pedestrian bridge.
It would seem to be also accessible by tram but I didn't try it, since I would have to use tickets when I only needed to get to and from my hotel.
There was a beer festival underway at ground level so I went to check it out. It was a fine sunny but cool day, ideal to be outdoors.
Lots of cheerful festival goers.
Besides beer there was wine and accompaniments like sausage and rolls. You also see the overhead bridge I arrived on.
Another view.
The inside of the mall is modern and resembled malls elsewhere in the world. The prosaic reason I was there was to get a top up to the 02 SIM that I had bought in Prague. It turned out that with a nominal top up, I was able to get various bonus data amounts which would easily last me for the rest of the trip, as data allowances are valid throughout the EU.
After the mall I decided I had to try a gelato from a shop with the tongue-twisting name of Zmrzlinárium Café Centro, and excellent reviews. It did not disappoint. I think I had forest berry flavour or something like that.
My last photo in Czechia was of my dinner in an Italian restaurant. It was quite tasty.
I liked Olomouc. It was much less hectic than Prague and I could walk to all the sights. The quality of the food and drink was as good as any in Czechia.
I was to move on to Slovakia the next day.
